TED Conference creator in $10M lawsuit over sale of spinoff

jeudi 15 septembre 2016

The man who created the TED conference is embroiled in a multimillion-dollar legal dispute over the sale of a TED spinoff.

Richard Saul Wurman is an architect and graphic designer who founded TED in 1984 to focus on technology, entertainment and design. He later created TEDMED to focus on health and medicine, and has since sold them both.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Rhode Island, Wurman says the man to whom he sold TEDMED breached their contract and cost him millions when he resold TEDMED in 2011 without giving him a cut of the proceeds.

Marc Hodosh is countersuing. He accuses Wurman of meddling in the sale.

They're suing each other for at least $10 million.

A spokeswoman for TEDMED says they don't have any comment.
